Geisel Library
San Diego, California, United States · 1970 · Brutalist Architecture
The main library of UC San Diego stacks its upper floors as stepped, cantilevered glass tiers carried on angled board-formed concrete columns. The raised mass leaves an open, sheltered plaza beneath, so the building reads as a single sculptural object on its campus mesa.
