Hamburg's Speicherstadt is a district of multi-storey brick warehouses set on canals in the city's harbour. Gothic-revival gables, turrets and green copper roofs give the storage blocks an unusually ornate character. The ensemble is a protected monument and part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site together with the neighbouring Kontorhaus District.
