Dulles International Airport Main Terminal
Dulles, Virginia, United States · Mid-Century Modern
Architectural reference — not an AmericanStruct project. A well-known building shown for inspiration. Facts marked “Wikidata” are taken from Wikidata; photographs are credited below and used under their licences.
Eero Saarinen's main terminal at Washington Dulles is defined by a sweeping concave roof suspended between two rows of outward-leaning piers, giving the long hall the profile of a single drawn curve. A tall glass wall runs beneath the roof edge, and the airport's pagoda-like control tower rises just behind it. Ammann & Whitney served as structural engineers on the design.
